Evans Farai Chabata and Leboneng Mathebule are the two managing directors of Gridbow. Gridbow is an award-winning electrical and civil engineering company that specialises in substation construction, overhead line construction, cabling, and specialised electrical projects.
Since their inception in 2008, they have a track record of over 100 successfully executed projects, their annual turnover has increased by 1 148%, and their staff complement has more than doubled.
When asked to give advice to other entrepreneurs in South Africa, Chabata said, “Preparation is key. Don’t chase the money. Retain the talent and build a good track record.”
Gemini GIS and Environmental Services
Andiswa Silinga and Tankiso Phidza are the managing and operations managers of Gemini GIS and Environmental Services.
Gemini offers a broad range of environmental and geospatial solutions to the mining, government and construction industries. They also ensure that their clients are environmentally responsible at every stage of their operational life cycle. They are experts in geospatial database standardisation and provide easy remote access to data. Since coming onto the programme in 2011, their turnover has increase by 425% and they have doubled their staff complement. When asked to give advice to other entrepreneurs, Phidza says, ‘Know your competition and their gaps. Know your market. Fill in the gaps and write down your goals and timelines.”
HAPE Coal Services
Rhulani Maluleke is the Managing Director of HAPE Coal Services.
HAPE is a process and engineering company offering customised, innovative and technological solutions for the process engineering and energy industries. The team collectively has a great track record, strong B-BBEE credentials, and reliable technical and operations capabilities. Since coming onto the programme in 2011 HAPE’s turnover has increased by 225%. There are good things to come for HAPE Coal Services in the future.
